Cafe Earth on Tedburn Road in Exeter offers a straightforward, unpretentious cafe experience rooted in simplicity and comfort. Housed in what locals describe as an old grower’s greenhouse, the space has a homey vibe with sofas scattered about and even a pool table, making it more than just a spot to grab food — it’s a place to linger. The atmosphere feels relaxed and peaceful, often welcoming people who want to settle in without the fussiness of trendy cafes.

This cafe is a go-to for those after honest, filling breakfasts or a casual midday bite without stretching the wallet. The menu features familiar dishes like omelettes (choice of ham, cheese, mushroom, or ham & cheese), burgers including bacon cheese, and cooked breakfasts named the “Gut Buster,” “American,” or “Veggie.” Portion sizes tend to be generous, contributing to the feeling of good value, and the kitchen operates with a friendly, hands-on approach by the owners themselves.

Visitors often come with a laid-back agenda: dog owners appreciate that their pets are welcome, locals stop by for a simple breakfast treat, and families passing through have found it a convenient and affordable pit stop. The inclusion of oat milk options like Oatly shows attention to practical details for diverse diets. Because parking nearby is generally simple and the seating ample and casual, it's a convenient spot whenever appetite and timing align.

Morning to early afternoon hours seem ideal here, especially if you want to avoid a rush and enjoy the cozy setting with a hot mug of tea or coffee. The friendly and approachable staff contribute to an informal but warm welcome, often remembered by repeat visitors. Pool table games enhance the neighborhood feel, turning what might have been a quick meal into a relaxed local hangout.

Fab little no-frills cafe, perfect if you want simple honest food without the hefty price tag. I love that it is peaceful, comfortable and homely with sofas and even a pool table. I can bring my dog and come for a little breakfast treat without worrying about parking or finding a seat. It's perfect. Had a sausage sarnie today and a huge mug of tea (they also have Oatley oatmilk! ) and my dog got a bacon rasher for free for little over a fiver, bargain. The owner is super friendly and hospitable.

There's a saying in life "You only get what you pay for" well Cafe Earth is the exception to that rule. When you approach it it looks quite shabby and actually we wondered whether it was still open. Don't be put off! Going inside, yes it is very basic but we were greeted by a lovely man who turned out to be the cook, waiter washer upper , well everything really. Couldn't believe how cheap the meals were and were expecting pretty short portions. Wrong!! Plenty enough and very tasty. If you're expecting fast food don't bother but if you want a really good meal at incredible prices here's your place. Will definitely return next time on our way back from Cornwall.
